We are dedicated to maximizing the benefits of vacation rentals as a necessary, valuable and important part of Chelan County tourism. The BOCC is getting closer to finalizing the draft STR code after two code workshops this week. They've scheduled a 3rd and final workshop for next Tues 6/22. They have also formally scheduled the FINAL Public Hearing for Tues 6/29. **This is will be the time to speak up!! Please watch STRACC and the STR FB group closely. We will let you know asap that sign-up is open for speaking at the public hearing. You will need to sign up IMMEDIATELY if you want to speak, and we don’t want to be drowned out by nothing but anti-STR voices.
A lot was discussed in the code workshops this week, but it wasn't always clear where the Commissioners were landing on certain issues. Here are Don's notes. Some good news is they're considering broader eligibility for grandfathering.

Each year, visitors spend more than 1 million nights in Chelan County’s rural vacation rentals. These visitors generate more than $150 million in economic activity, creating 1400 local jobs and paying $42 million in wages. The benefits go far beyond the rentals themselves, with these visitors spending $38 million on food & beverage services, $16 million on entertainment & recreation, and $36 million on retail sales.
