How To Submit Your STR Application

Over the weekend we sent out a newsletter containing links to a set of resources to help you complete your application for a provisional STR permit. Due to a problem with Google Drive sharing permissions, members have not been able to download the property management plan template. We have posted a copy of the template at a new link, from which you should be able to download a copy to modify for your own use.

Owners of existing STRs must apply for a provisional STR permit no later than December 31, 2021 if they want to continue operating. Failure to apply by this date will forfeit the owner's right to continue operating as a legal non-conforming use. Owners who do not obtain a provisional permit will be unable to resume operations until they obtain a permit to operate as a conforming STR. In popular area of the county it could take years to obtain a permit as a conforming STR, and for certain properties it will be impossible. It is imperative that existing operators apply for their provisional permits by December 31, 2021.

The application process is quite involved, so STRACC has created a toolkit to help its members prepare their materials. The materials are hosted on Google Drive. To access them, you will need a google account that is linked to the email address associated with your STRACC membership. The materials include the following:
  • Property management plan template. Every STR must provide a property management plan (PMP) that includes certain required content. We have created a template with embedded instructions and some suggested content in certain fields. (Go to File -> Download -> .docx to download a copy you can modify. Please do not request edit permission.)
  • Application form guidance. Contains tips on how to complete the application form and where to find information required. (Viewable only by STRACC members, not downloadable)
  • Submittal checklist guidance. The county's submittal checklist contains a wide range of supporting documentation that you are required to include with your application. This guidance document provides tips on where to find this information. (Viewable only by STRACC members, not downloadable)
  • Fire & life safety inspection guidance. Contains information on correct placement of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and CO detectors, and tips on how to complete this form. (Viewable only by STRACC members, not downloadable)
If you find anything missing or unclear, we welcome your feedback as we seek to improve this toolkit.

Many thanks,
The STRACC Executive Board
